2021 Toyota Tundra Review

2021 Toyota Tundra Highway

When taking out your truck, these Floridian roads can sometimes provide a challenge. Even when you arrive at the work site, the 2021 Toyota Tundra can make your commute just that much smoother.

With a high performing engine and towing capabilities, we here at Phillips Toyota think you should consider making it your next vehicle.

For our friends and neighbors near Leesburg, The Villages, Apopka, Mount Dora, and Clermont, FL, we’ve written up this miniature review highlighting some aspects we think you’ll appreciate.

Toyota Tundra: Performance & MPG

 2021 Toyota Tundra Limited Highway

The Toyota Tundra is built for heavy duty performance as shown by the impressive engine. It is a 5.7-liter Aluminum i-FORCE V8 with DOHC 32-Valve cylinder heads with Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS), Dual Independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) and 4-2-1 tubular stainless steel exhaust manifold.

With an engine like that, you can expect greatness from it, and the numbers don‘t lie. It generates a generous 381 horsepower, with an additional 401 lb-ft of torque. Let’s keep that torque measurement in mind for later on. But aside from that, the horsepower is going to give you what you need to get through to the worksite or the land you’re keeping.

Not to be neglected, the transmission is a 6-speed Electronically Controlled automatic Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i), sequential shift mode and uphill/downhill shift logic. For the 5.7-liter V8 models, like the Tundra, a TOW/HAUL mode is added. Great on its own, but even better for towing!

Last, but not least, we arrive at fuel economy. It definitely gets the most mileage out on the highway, which is where most drivers are apt to be, hauling or towing materials. The full numbers are an EPA-estimated 13 city/18 highway/15 combined MPG.1

Toyota Tundra: Towing Capacity

2021 Toyota Tundra Towing Boat Silver Dock

For the Tundra’s towing capacity, it comes standard with a great tow package, which comes with a towing hitch receiver, 4.30 rear axle ratio, TOW/HAUL Mode switch, Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (ITBC), heavy-duty battery, 170-amp alternator, and 4./7.pin connector.

Additionally, the maximum payload for the Tundra is 1,660 pounds. That means you can haul a significant amount of materials without the need for towing. However, the maximum towing capacity is an incredible 10,100 pounds!

With strength like that built into the Tundra, you’ll have no obstacles in taking your work from site to site, or even a small boat to the waterfront for some recreation. You’ll tow with confidence knowing this equipment is standard on the Tundra.

Toyota Tundra: Infotainment Technologies

 2021 Toyota Tundra Interior CrewMax

Not only is the Tundra designed to help you achieve your goals, it’s also there to make the driving experience enjoyable. The infotainment package that comes standard for this CrewMax model is robust and offers features that only enhance your travels.

It starts with the Audio Plus feature (including nine speakers), an 8-inch touchscreen, AM/FM and HD Radio™, a USB media port, and two USB charge ports. Not a bad start, huh?

The following features focus heavily on connective apps and wireless tech. Thanks to the inclusion of Bluetooth® wireless technology, you have access to hands-free phone capability and music streaming. Going further, it also allows for Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay®, and Amazon Alexa compatibility. The cherry on top is a 3-month All Access trial subscription to SiriusXM®.
