There is much of the state of Florida to see, especially near Leesburg, The Villages, Apopka, Mount Dora, and Clermont. To do this, you’ll need a stylish, fun, and comfortable set of wheels, and no two SUVs do it better than the Toyota RAV4 and Ford Escape.

While you can’t go wrong with either vehicle, do you know what makes them different? To help you make an informed decision as to which vehicle is better for you, Phillips Toyota compared some important components of the RAV4 and the Escape.

Toyota RAV4 vs Ford Escape: Performance

2022 Toyota RAV4 Off Road 2

One of the many things that draws drivers to SUVs is their performance, and the RAV4 and Escape aren’t short on this. That being the case, the Toyota RAV4 offers more power in terms of its gas and hybrid engines than that of the Ford Escape.

Under the hood of the RAV4, you’ll discover a fully equipped 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with Dual Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence that produces 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. This engine also features SPORT, ECO, and NORMAL drive modes, so you can customize your adventures the way you want.

The hybrid versions of the RAV4 come with a similar engine, but it offers 219 combined net horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, not only will you get SPORT, ECO, and NORMAL Modes, but you’ll also get EV and TRAIL Modes.

Comparatively, the standard engine in the Ford can only produce 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque, and the hybrid engine can only produce 200 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque.

RAV4 vs Escape: Safety

2022 Toyota RAV4 Safety

When you’re out and about, danger could strike at any minute, which is why it’s important to feel protected. Nobody does safety better than these two automotive titans. Both offer similar safety technologies, such as Lane Departure Alert, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and more.

What separates the RAV4, though, is its standard Safety Connect® system. If you break down and need a tow truck or are involved in an accident, Toyota’s 24/7 response center will be notified automatically and attempt to call you to see if you need help. You can also reach out via a button inside the vehicle if needed.

Additionally, if your vehicle is ever stolen, a response team can work with local law enforcement to recover it by using its built-in GPS technology. Those who choose to drive the Ford Escape won’t have access to such advanced safety features.

Toyota vs Ford: Infotainment

2022 Toyota RAV4 Interior Tech

Whether it’s a trip around the corner or you’re packing up the family and going to your favorite vacation spot, no drive is complete without a little entertainment. This means having access to your favorite songs, radio stations, podcasts, and more. Both vehicles will give you the ability to seamlessly connect to your digital world with standard Bluetooth® Apple CarPlay®, and Android Auto™.

The big difference between the RAV4 and the Escape is that the RAV4 offers a bigger standard infotainment screen at seven inches compared to the 4.2-inch screen found in the Ford. Both come with six standard speakers, but the RAV4 offers 11 available speakers from JBL® and the Ford only offers 10 from Bang & Olufsen®.

This means that not only will visibility be easier in the RAV4, but you’ll also have better audio quality as well.

Toyota RAV4 vs Ford Escape: Decision

When comparing the Toyota RAV4 and the Ford Escape, Phillips Toyota believes that the RAV4 is a superior vehicle to the Escape due to its engine outputs, more intuitive safety options, and infotainment features.
