RAV4 and Tucson Engine Spec Comparison

Toyota RAV4 Engine SpecsTo help you power through your daily commutes, the Toyota RAV4 is armed with a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force 4-cylinder engine. This powertrain delivers 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque to create a more enjoyable and thrilling drive.

You may notice a difference in the way the Hyundai Tucson performs since its baseline 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine provides only 161 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. A 181-horsepower motor is available, but it still falls short of the power provided by the RAV4.

Additionally, the RAV4 earns an EPA-estimated 27 city/35 highway MPG to help you cruise past gas station stops while running errands.1 You’ll have to refuel more often with the Tucson, since it has an EPA-estimated 23 city/28 highway MPG.

Advanced Safety in the Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Tucson

Toyota RAV4 SafetyWhen choosing your next SUV, it’s important to select a ride that can keep you and your passengers protected no matter where you roam. To help you stay in your lane and prevent unintentional drifting on the highway, the Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Tucson come standard with Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist.

For even greater protection, the RAV4 is equipped with standard Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0, which includes the following technologies:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
  • Lane Tracing Assist
  • Automatic High Beans
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

While the Tucson has many of these systems available, you’ll need to upgrade to a higher trim level for most of them.

RAV4 vs Tucson: Cargo Space

Toyota RAV4 InteriorFrom your kids’ soccer gear to groceries, you want a vehicle that provides ample space for all your essentials. Luckily, the interiors of the Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Tucson are configurable to your specific needs with 60/40 split reclining fold-flat rear seats.

When the rear seat is upright in the RAV4, you’ll have room for five passengers along with 37.6 cubic feet of cargo volume to stash luggage or shopping bags. When more space is needed, simply fold the rear seat flat, and you’ll have 69.8 cubic of cargo room to place your camping gear in.

It may be a tighter fit in the Hyundai Tucson, though, since it only provides 31 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat.  When the rear row is folded down, you’ll gain more space, but at only 61.9 cubic feet, it doesn’t measure up to the RAV4.
